Jofre Cullell secured a well-deserved victory at Corró d’Amunt. The BH Coloma Team rider broke away on the first lap alongside Dutchman Tom Schellekens, although Cullell eventually launched the winning sprint to take the win. In the women’s category, Czech rider Tereza Tvaruzková emerged victorious after beating the race’s other favourite, Núria Bosch.

Jofre Cullell wins convincingly at Corró d’Amunt

Yesterday’s rain had cleared and the mud welcomed the riders. The day dawned clear and the sun shone brightly, although the muddy sections of the circuit were the main challenge the participants had to face. The race started on time and the start went off without a hitch.

The huge peloton completed the start lap and the two figures destined to take centre stage soon stood out: Jofre Cullell and Tom Schellekens. Both riders broke away right from the start.

The battle continued until Schellekens was forced to dismount on one of the winding descents in the second half of the circuit. Cullell seized the opportunity, overtook the Dutchman and increased the pace. The Catalan’s effort paid off and the gap between the two grew ever wider.

Cullell (1:29:59.44) managed his lead and rode a flawless race to the finish line to secure victory. Schellekens (1:32:37.91) finished second, with an outstanding Lucas Salierno – competing in the U23 category – (1:25:13.88) coming in third.

Tereza Tvaruzková wins the women’s category

In the women’s race, Tereza Tvaruzková emerged victorious after dominating her rivals with an iron grip. The Czech rider set the pace from the start and managed to pull away from her pursuers. The gap widened as the kilometres passed, and the three best-placed riders soon broke away: Tvaruzková, Bosch and Villaret.

The race proceeded without any surprises or unexpected twists, so Tvaruzková raised her arms as she crossed the finish line to celebrate her victory. Bosch and Villaret had to settle for second and third place, respectively.

Mario Sinués (who finished sixth in the race) and Núria Bosch are the new leaders of the general classification.
