Jofre Cullell has won the Shimano Super Cup Massi Sabiñánigo by a clear margin. The Spanish rider set a fast pace from the start and dominated the race, finishing ahead of Vlad Dascalu, who made a strong comeback but was unable to catch Cullell. In the women’s category, Chiara Teocchi won after a closely fought battle with Vida López, which was decided in the final sprint.

Jofre Cullell puts on another masterclass in Sabiñánigo

The Shimano Super Cup Massi travelled to the town of Sabiñánigo in Huesca for the third race of the season. The event featured some of the world’s best riders and teams, welcoming participants from 18 countries.

The riders lined up and the race started on time. Cullell made a great start and, aware that Vlad Dascalu was starting from the third row, he pedalled hard from the very first moments of the race. Antoine Philipp was the only one to match Cullell’s pace, and the pair opened up a gap on the rest of the field.

Cullell upped the ante and pushed his quadriceps a little harder. The move left him alone at the front of the race. His lead grew as the kilometres passed and, despite a fall that came to nothing, Cullell displayed unwavering strength that brought him ever closer to victory.

Behind him, Dascalu was gaining ground and finally broke away from the chasing pack. The Trek-Unbroken rider did his best to catch Cullell, though to no avail.

Thus, Cullell (1h12:34.94) crossed the finish line to secure a comfortable and well-deserved victory in Sabiñánigo. The BH Coloma Team rider continues his love affair with this venue and is already setting his sights on the 2027 Spanish XCO MTB Championships.

Vlad Dascalu (1h13:48.26), Nathan Cornillon (1h14:18.24), Mats Glende (1h14:29.03) and Raúl Villar (1h14:37.39) completed the podium.

Furthermore, Cullell finished as the new leader of the Shimano Super Cup Massi general classification.

Chiara Teocchi beats Vida López in a sprint finish

In the women’s race, Chiara Teocchi and Vida López were the standout riders of the day. Both riders broke away from the rest of the field and joined forces to maintain their lead. Behind them, the battle centred on Yana Belomoina, Line Burquier and a combative Marta Cano.

The parity between Teocchi and López became evident as the race progressed. Attempts to break away came to nothing and the two accepted their fate: to decide everything on the final lap.

So, Teocchi and López launched the sprint and gave it their all. Teocchi, who had been in the lead for most of the race, struck harder and crossed the finish line in first place. Behind her, Belomoina, Burquier and Cano followed López.

Beyond the race, Teocchi also took the lead in the general classification.
