DAVID VALERO AND SAMARA MAXWELL WIN SHIMANO SUPER CUP MASSI SANTA SUSANNA 2025
David Valero wins the Shimano Super Cup Massi Santa Susanna ahead of German rider David List and his teammate Jofre Cullell. The three joined forces to form the leading group and escaped, although in the end it was Valero who was able to tip the balance in his favour and win the race. In the women’s category, Samara Maxwell won without resistance in a race that she dominated to perfection.
David Valero is crowned in Santa Susanna with a fantastic win
The Shimano Super Cup Massi landed in Santa Susanna for the fourth round of the championship. The heavy rains of the previous day gave way to a bright sunshine and the course was revived with a renewed aspect. The terrain drained the excess water and the runners were faced with a course that was equal parts fun and challenging.
The race got underway with strict punctuality and the big stars called up to the ranks started to put in their first pedal strokes. David Valero and David List soon stood out from the rest and managed to open a small gap with the rest of the rivals.
The co-lead was consolidated and both riders extended their advantage little by little. But the script had other plans and Jofre Cullell appeared in time to present his candidacy and form part of a luxury front group. Behind, a first-class team tried to close the gap and chase them down; Gerardo Ulloa, Thomas Griot, Joshua Dubau or Antoine Philippe were some of them, while Bjorn Riley and Samuel Gaze were forced to drop back.
The kilometres continued to pass and the race remained open between the three riders until David List gave up and left the two BH Coloma Team riders in front of the race.
Valero and Cullell were neck and neck until the final stretch of the race. Valero was left alone in first position, while List overtook Cullell. Nothing moved until the finish line, which welcomed Valero in style to certify his victory in the Shimano Super Cup Massi Santa Susanna 2025.
Samara Maxwell wins alone a race she dominated from start to finish
The women’s category also presented a grid with some great international stars, such as Line Burquier, Marta Cano, Tatiana Saitarova, Greta Seiwald, Simona Spesna or Samara Maxwell herself. The clean start came with the last minute withdrawal of Olivia Onesti, who was unable to take part in the competition. The pace was high from the start and the group was stretched at the first change.
Samara Maxwell opened up a gap without too much effort and soon found herself leading alone with many metres ahead of her rivals, who were falling into the no man’s zone. The race remained stable throughout the competition and, with no unexpected surprises, Maxwell rode to the finish line to win the fourth Shimano Super Cup Massi 2025 event of the season.
